چکیده

Synopsis Model systems composed of 2-hydroxycyc)ohexanone and ammonium acetate in ft mole ratio of 1 to 3 were set up to study tbe formation of octahydrephenazine <OHP). Octahydrephenazine and an intermediate were iselated and characterized by GC/MS (EI and CI). This intermediate was the condensation product between a molecu]e of 2-hydroxycyclohexanone and 2-amino-cyelohexanone via the Schiff base formation mechanism. A targer amount of the intermediate than of OHP was found in the sotyent system containing ]ess than 20% ethanot, the relatiye proportion of the intertnediate decreasingasthepercentageofethano]wasincreased,Theformation mechsnism for OHP is proposed.
